Delicious Tawa Chicken Recipe
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4-6
Ingredients:
For Marination:
- 1 pound (450g) boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Juice of 1 lemon
For the Tawa Chicken:
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (for color)
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, salt, and lemon juice.
- Add the chicken pieces and mix well to coat them evenly with the marinade.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors infuse.
- Heat a large, flat tawa (griddle) or a wide, shallow skillet over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil and let it heat up.
- Add cumin seeds to the hot oil and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
- Add thinly sliced onions and sauté until they become translucent and start to turn golden brown.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and blend with the onions.
- Add coriander powder, cumin powder, and paprika. Stir well to combine the spices with the tomato-onion mixture.
- Now, add the marinated chicken pieces along with any leftover marinade into the pan. Spread them out evenly.
- Cook the chicken on medium-high heat, turning occasionally until it's cooked through and has a nice golden brown color. This should take about 15-20 minutes.
- Once the chicken is cooked, add the thinly sliced green and red bell peppers. Sauté for another 5-7 minutes until the peppers are slightly softened but still have a crunch.
- Garnish your Tawa Chicken with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with naan, roti, or steamed rice. It's also great as a side dish at gatherings or as a filling for wraps and rolls.
Enjoy your homemade Tawa Chicken bursting with flavorful spices and tender chicken pieces!
